This photo was taken at Uros Island in Lake Titicaca. This modest house has a solar panel and inside there’s a TV set. Today we had our solar panels installed. Part of which are rebated by the government to promote green energy. When I sent the photo of the panels being installed to Jeanne – she replied – ‘At last we have caught up with Uros’.
Growing up in Baguio, Ruben and I have a flock of pigeons for pets. We’ve fashioned a wooden box used for ‘tuyo’ (smoked fish) as their nest/home. Our first pair was given to me by Dr. Sabater from his own flock. We raised the these birds since they were small, feeding them by hand and [...]
Two years in a row! The Sydney Royal Easter Show is a yearly event that dates back to 1823. It is an event we don’t always get a chance to see, and to witness this two-years in a row is quite a treat. Last year, we played host to a visiting guest from overseas. (See [...]
This is our dining room. Like most Australian household, this is perhaps the least used room. If not for the repairs needed, this room is being repainted only to match the colour of the rest of the house. However, the curtains have been a heavy burden to the ceiling where the curtain rails are anchored. [...]
On the 28th of February, Jeanne and I walked in the Bunnings Hardware Store and walked out with over 45 litres of paint and painting materials. We’re hunkering down for the next god knows how many weekends and tackle a job we’ve been procrastinating. After over 12 years since we built the house, we’re repainting. [...]
This would only be our second time in Kobe Jones, a posh Japanese restaurant in the heart of Sydney. It has great views, great food, excellent service but with a price tag that would require me take a second mortgage.
For the “Australia Day” long weekend, we went to the Illawarra Fly Tree Top Walk in Knights Hill, NSW. This new tourist attraction opened last year in March 2008. Its main feature is a 500m walk bridge nestled amongst the trees and provides spectacular views of the Illawarra Region. Here are my choice shots for the day.
Early this year – Jeanne registered us to the City-To-Surf, a 14km marathon from Hyde Park in Sydney to Bondi Beach. We are not runners and not that athletic, so I though she’s crazy to get us into it. I’m a self-confessed couch potato, with a burst of guilt physical activity thrown in every now [...]
4 May 2008: The Madrid Family are visiting Sydney from the Philippines. They flew in from Melbourne in the early morning and stayed at the beautiful Meriton Apartments right at the centre of downtown Sydney. Jeanne and I took the early train to meet up with them. The plan was to take them to Taronga [...]
