South American Adventure

By • Apr 21st, 2012 • Category: Feature Story

These series of blogs were written whilst Jeanne and I were touring South America with 18 other friends. Although all of these were written a day or two after the events – I haven’t been publishing them and had “on purpose” ;-) left posting it in my blog after we’ve returned home to Australia. This is not an attempt to document the travel itinerary but rather to capture the stories on how I remember this trip.

The Dinner Club

By • Mar 18th, 2012 • Category: Feature Story

Inspired by loads of cooking shows in the tube, and common interest with friends, a dinner club is becoming a regular event in our calendar. It informally started last year when we were rehearsing for Joy’s wedding. After practice, most would dash off but Ryan and Angie would stay a while for tea or dinner. [...]

Silver And Gold

By • Oct 3rd, 2011 • Category: Feature Story

It took almost a year to prepare Jeanne’s 50th Birthday and our Silver Wedding Anniversary – but it was all worth it. Our venue was the new Weber Library Hall in Blacktown. There were approximately 130 guests from the Harana Concert Band, Nielsen Cycling Group, Ex-TIers, Thales, Ex-British Aerospace friends. Jeanne, Celine and army of [...]

Celine and Jessica Visits Japan

By • Dec 20th, 2010 • Category: Feature Story, Journal Entry

Celine promised me to write about their experience in Japan. But she will probably never get a round tuit. Nevertheless, I just want to put up a few of their photos to mark the occasion. I’m really proud of these girls. At a very young age, they can truly travel and be independent. I often [...]

My Oz Experience

By • Dec 2nd, 2010 • Category: Feature Story

Sydney, Australia … my first long foray out of the country … 30 days to be exact. Here are some of the things I learned about Australia, in general, about my sister, her husband and their 2 grown-up daughters and things we shared that I fondly remember.

Sax and the City

By • Jan 8th, 2010 • Category: Feature Story, Journal Entry

I can’t remember the last time I raised my hand to play in a gig, or as what Sandy (director of Sax-And-The-City) would call it – adventure. I think it was when the Blacktown Community Band came around in Christmas 2007 to carol at our home. My “Mary Kate” (that’s my alto sax) was sitting [...]

Family Group Photo

By • Jul 29th, 2009 • Category: Feature Story, Journal Entry

A loss in the family also brings out the occasion for family members to come together. This photo is taken just outside the home of the Anada Family in Calgary – 27 July 2009. From Left-to-Right at the back are: Rove ‘the Popular’ Laroco, Auntie Beth ‘Jet-setter’ Macaraeg, Airee ‘Korean Doll’ Pascual, Dennis Retuntar , [...]

Twins and Jess to White Castle

By • Jul 11th, 2009 • Category: Feature Story, Journal Entry

After a year of saving up, losing her job, finding another, working ’til late after school and taking the late train home. And now they made it. The Twins and Jess have been eating 30 burgers at the White Castle and enjoying the site of New York City. Here are their preliminary photos.

Mini-Reunion in Sydney

By • May 10th, 2009 • Category: Feature Story

09-May-2009: Mixed feelings of anxiety but mainly of excitement were in the air with the impending mini reunion of five 1979 Holy Family Academy high school batchmates. Menchie (Maicle- Castro), Cynthia (Baron-Cunanan), Wilma (Bravo-Palor), Michelle (Micu-Velasquez) and I had a mini-reunion in Sydney, Australia.

Living Room

By • Mar 22nd, 2009 • Category: Feature Story, Journal Entry

After 3 weekends of painting, the house is beginning to feel like a brand new home. You could feel the anticipation in the family – everyone is putting in their time on this project. Celine has taken Saturday off her work and devoted the morning cleaning up and doing regular chores that were falling behind. [...]
