There are so many places in the web to write these days. There are forums, wiki, blogs and social networks, all of which are competing to get some footprint. I’ve been trying to consolidate my notes in one webspace hoping that it can stay organised. I’m not having much success - I’ll find new ways to do things and I’ll get distracted from my purpose and spend time doing that instead. I envy those who just stick to one medium and they make the best of it. That is true in just about any aspect of human endeavor though.
I have 2 competing sites - this site (WordPress) and a Wiki (PMWiki), both of which are some form of a content management system (CMS) - which begs the question - why didn’t I just built myself a Drupal site (a full pledge CMS). Well, because I didn’t.
At this point, my PMWiki is a good place to write linked notes. It handles tables very well and anything that requires external references. At work, I try to organise all my notes on a intranet PMWiki. It is, however, weak in handling and managing readers comments. My WordPress on the other hand is a surrogate e-mail and online journal. I get into phases when I like writing long emails and notes but don’t really want to impose it on the email boxes of my contacts. Often times - replies are even posted as comments which is great in saving thoughts for posterity.
A good blogger however must have a purpose. Currently - I have none and my site is a salad bowl of my journals, some Oracle notes not anymore, I have relagated all notes of this type to the wiki , some experiences using various plugins for my site, etc. I’m not really a big blogger and I won’t be surprised if after some time this blog site becomes stale like all of my blogs in Blogspot and in Yahoo 360.
I have managed to migrate my Blogspot blogs into these WordPress site already - that’s 1 point for my consolidation exercise (yipee).
I too am using the Mimbo theme. I am wondering how you got more than 2 categories to show up on each page?
I can only get two…

I’ve been meaning to reply to this earlier but wasn’t quite sure what you were referring to. Your pages and posts looks no different to my pages and posts. Even the homepage - you have about 3 categories in the middle column.
Anyway - feel free to add another reply if I can be of help. - Cheers.
