XSPF Player

By Rommel Pascual • Category: Tech Talk

I was trying to discover various ways to use the flash media player plugins for PMWiki when I stumble into another internet gem. The XSPF player - which is an open shareable XML playlist. While working on it, I must have written my XSPF file incorrectly, so it won’t open using the online player. What happened was that the player opened a random playlist instead and to my surprise - hundreds of MP3 files being made available by artists themselves.

You do not actually download the MP3 to your disk (not in a permanent sense, at least, well it’s actually buffered to your cache - but I digress). The MP3 are streamed directly from the artist’s site. What you have is a nice playlist interface and a great way to discover new songs out there. I’m yet to discover how to put it into my WordPress - but I’ve done it in my wiki - follow this link.
